Customer Field Officer

At WaterNSW our goal is to ensure we go above and beyond our customers’ expectations.  We supply and seek to improve the availability of water that is essential for water users and the communities throughout NSW. We do this by providing efficient and timely services to customers with surface and ground water licences.

You will provide information, advice and services to customers and stakeholders to improve their understanding of the regulatory framework for water and enable customers to manage their water licences consistent with relevant legislations.

What is required

In this role, you will be responsible for providing personalised customer service ensuring that customers have access to their available water, through accurate and timely water accounting transactions. This includes determining water take via a range of measurement devices and assessment methods, surveillance, reporting activities and always putting safety first.

You will be self-motivated. driven to achieve outcomes and thrive in an environment where you have clear deadlines and expectations set. You will enjoy working within a team and take accountability for your work outputs. You will be required to effectively manage your time and resources to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently on time and can work alone in the field in remote and isolated areas of the State.

You must be focused, hardworking and committed to finding the solutions that drives results, be able to maintain effectiveness when experiencing changes in work responsibilities or environment with the ability to adjust effectively and work within new structures, processes, requirements, or cultures.

Essential

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Experience in Microsoft Office applications
  • Resolving customer matters to ensure effective outcomes
  • Educate and motivate customers to use new systems and procedures for water ordering and the reporting of water take to modernise customer service
  • Improve customer knowledge, awareness and obligations associated with extraction of bulk water in NSW
  • Intra state travel with the ability to travel large distances and conduct field work in a variety of locations
  • NSW drivers licence
  • Ability to think for yourself while working alone, a positive attitude and an enjoyment of the outdoors

Desirable – the following will be considered favourable but not essential

  • An understanding of the aims and principles of sustainable natural resource management
  • Knowledge of water flow measurement devices and agronomic practices
  • Experience working remotely in the field
  • Experience with navigational/spatial applications like google earth and databases

Other Information:

Salary is Grade 6 $82,576.00 + superannuation

The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment check/s including a National police check, Medical check and Working with Children Check. Any offer of employment will be subject to successful clearance of this/ these check/s.
