Ready to make a splash in your career? WaterNSW is seeking an 4x experienced  Water Planning & Delivery Officer to join our team  and ensure our water systems are configured to efficiently deliver water where and when it matters.

Your experience in the water industry, hydrology, engineering, or environmental science will see you succeed in this role. You will put your water resource management, problem solving, planning and communication skills to great use. Location:  Murrumbdigee, Lachlan, Bega, Murray and Lower Darling valleys however there are work from home options available.

What you’ll do: 

  • Effectively having your hands on the controls of some of the largest dams in NSW
  • Assessing daily and seasonal water demands to determine dam releases and weir operations, monitor water usage, schedule customer water orders, monitor stream flow and storage levels
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities for improved operational performance and devising short- and medium-term system configuration plans
  • Delivering assigned projects including water portfolio responsibilities
  • Operating or directing the operation of water infrastructure in line with operating protocols to ensure the efficient delivery of water to customers and the environment, including during droughts.
  • Operating or directing the operation of water infrastructure during significant inflows (e.g. floods, water quality events) to minimise risks to assets and the downstream environment.

What we are looking for:  

  • Proven experience in working within a team environment to achieve corporate and business unit objectives and improve operational performance.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, customers and regulators.
  • Applicants must demonstrate the ability and willingness to develop sound knowledge of NSW Water Management legislation, regulations and policies
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. civil or environmental engineering, hydrology, environmental science), or equivalent operational experience
  • NSW Driver's License

Highly Regarded Skills:

  • Knowledge and understanding of water usage practices and water resource management
  • Knowledge of lake water quality (limnology) and/or river hydrology
  • Demonstrated ability to implement practical strategies and tools in a water management context, including for incident management
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience in process improvement
