What you’ll do:

  • Provide technical input and support for the dam safety services program to deliver projects and activities to increase Local Water Utilities (LWU) compliance under the dam safety regulation.
  • Participate in and record dam safety risk workshops, facilitated by WaterNSW, leading to the delivery of dam safety risk assessment reports to LWUs.
  • Undertake risk assessment calculations and prepare summary reports for submission to the LWUs, following the methodology in ANCOLD’s 2022 guidelines on risk assessment.
  • Liaise with LWUs to collect and review information and studies on dam design, construction and performance for use within risk assessment.
  • Manage reporting according to NSW Dam Safety Regulation requirements to ensure quality of deliverables to maximise customer satisfaction.
  • Actively participate in project meetings with a variety of customers, presenting results of dam research and studies undertaken, and working closely with them to receive and act on feedback to their satisfaction.

 

What we are looking for:  

  • Bachelor degree or higher in Civil / Geotechnical /Structural /Hydrology Engineering from a tertiary institution.
  • Understanding of the NSW dam safety regulation and its requirements. Understanding of ANCOLD guidelines on Risk and ANCOLD guidelines on Dam Safety Management.
  • Understanding of principles and practices of dam design, construction, safety surveillance and maintenance, and the statutory and institutional framework for dam safety management will be considered as favourable.
  • Experience using ‘TotalRisk’ software package in the delivery of dam safety risk assessments will be considered as favourable.
  • Written and oral communication skills with capacity to communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary professionals and project team members, and to provide reports.
  • The ability to work alone, unsupervised and as part of a team and contribute to a positive and hardworking culture.
  • Willing to travel and work at various sites within NSW.
  • Current NSW driver’s licence
