What you’ll do: 

  • Design, build, and deliver user-friendly reports and dashboards in Power BI to track and analyse business, environmental and sustainability program performance for dissemination to Executive, Board, and Board committees as required.
  • Collaborate with other analysts and report producers across the business to understand business drivers, standardise and align measures, and apply reporting formats to KPI hierarchies.
  • Collect, store, analyse, and interpret environmental, catchment protection, and sustainability data, producing reports and insights for WaterNSW and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Ensure the quality of corporate performance reporting and analysis is based on robust, properly understood, and accurately sourced data, identifying and rectifying data quality issues or anomalies in conjunction with source system custodians and other stakeholders.
  • Provide timely advice on developments or changes to the regulatory environment, laws, policies, and issues, enabling WaterNSW to adjust its systems and processes to demonstrate compliance to its regulators.

 

What we are looking for:  

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Planning/Science/Sustainability, Data Analytics/Science, Information Systems, or related disciplines.
  • Proficiency in reporting and data analytics, visualisation tools (e.g., Power Suite, Microsoft Fabric/PowerBI), SQL, tabular data warehousing, and database modelling concepts.
  • Experience in developing and implementing environmental projects and sustainability initiatives, with a proven track record of reporting on their progress and impact.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing and maintaining data pipelines to build performance dashboards and reports using ETL tools (e.g., Power-Query, M-language, SSIS, Azure Data Factory) and DAX to support data-driven decision-making in sustainability and performance areas.
  • Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills to work effectively with Data Engineering and Sustainability teams and stakeholders across the business.
