Salary starting from: $73,011 Base + Super   
 
Tenure: Permanent, Full Time

What we are looking for:

  • A strong desire to contribute your skills and expertise to our business 
  • Someone who is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander decent / identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and is accepted as such by the community in which they were born, has lived or currently lives 
  • A commitment to promoting and preserving Aboriginal culture and value 
  • Diploma of Water Industry Operations (hydrography), or equivalent experience in an appropriate field.
  • Knowledge of the principles of surface water, groundwater and/or water quality
  • A willingness and ability to carry out field work in all weather conditions that can be extreme at times and for prolonged periods of time. Field work can be both physically and mentally demanding while still requiring all workers remain safe.
  • Computer literacy and ability to interpret data, work with specialist databases and monitor network performance
  • Awareness of and interest in natural resource management, particularly water.
  • Strong swimming experience
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence

 

What you will work on: 

  • Undertake surface water, groundwater and water quality monitoring functions such as rating, gauging, groundwater monitoring, collection of water quality samples, instrument management and calibration, surveys
  • Monitor, collect and verify water monitoring data, including time series data, in accordance with agreed schedules for allocated sites, to ensure the availability of high quality, consistent and accessible data for water resource management
  • Install, manage and maintain water monitoring equipment and infrastructure to prescribed standards. Report on the performance of individual water monitoring sites and seek instrumentation advice to identify and resolve issues.
  • Process, edit, quality code and archive water monitoring data into corporate databases, in accordance with relevant procedures ensuring the quality standards of data and data availability as agreed for customer access
  • Collect water quality samples, as requested by internal or external stakeholders within assigned sites and in accordance with quality guidelines and relevant procedures.
  • A willingness to occasionally travel overnight to remote/isolated locations throughout NSW
