Strategic Adviser - Water Quality & Values

What you’ll do: 

  • Develop and drive the preparation of holistic strategic priorities to protect water quality for the range of public health, environmental, cultural, and recreational values.
  • Provide strategic and technical water values advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders to conserve and improve values of water, including risk assessments, monitoring and reporting, with emphasis on reducing risks to water quality.
  • Delivery of strategic projects including implementing effective project controls and governance to deliver agreed outcomes on time, within budget and within regulatory and legislative guidelines.
  • Develop strategic relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance capacity to improve water quality strategies, programs and initiatives.
  • Monitor developments in water quality, research and innovation, emerging risks and industry trends to identify improvements and opportunities for WaterNSW.

 

What we are looking for:  

  • Tertiary qualifications in an environmental related discipline (science, engineering, planning, management, ecology, sustainability).
  • In depth knowledge of water quality and other NSW regulatory requirements for the management of water, from catchment to customer.
  • In depth understanding of water quality hazard assessment and risk mitigation.
  • Demonstrated, extensive experience in developing long term strategies to improve water quality, cultural and/or environmental outcomes.
  • Demonstrated, extensive experience in multi-stakeholder engagement, consultation and partnership development.
  • Experience in the provision of expert technical and strategic advice to inform long term planning and decision making.
  • Experience in managing projects and programs, including planning, budgeting, monitoring, reporting and impact evaluation.
