What you’ll do: 

  • Undertake hydraulic modelling projects using suite of hydraulic models, Mike Flood (Mike 11, Mike 21), HEC-Ras and TUFLOW as per requirement of the projects.
  • Use best modelling practice/procedures/guidelines to undertake projects/tasks as required under the guidance of team leads.
  • Support effective technical solutions to problems while balancing multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders. 
  • Work collaboratively and effectively, building relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high quality modelling outcomes for assigned projects and tasks.
  • Provision of technical advice to internal and external teams, focusing on creating capability and awareness of modelling outputs with a strong focus on client satisfaction. 
  • Develop hydrologic/hydraulic modelling tools, database and GIS for hydraulic/hydrologic modelling projects in accordance with project requirements. 
  • Develop technical reports to support model build processes and as per business requirements.

 

What we are looking for:  

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications from an Australian educational institution in Hydraulic, Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology, Computational Science or an equivalent/comparable overseas qualification. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of hydraulic models, as applied to the preparation of flood management plans, floodplain modelling and river environments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using DHI MIKE Suite (MIKE11, MIKE21 and MIKE FLOOD), HEC-Ras and TUFLOW. Proficiency in hydrologic modelling and linkages with hydraulic modelling outcomes will be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience in QGIS or ARC GIS and handling of vector and raster data for scientific/engineering applications.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team to meet deadlines and respond productively to changing requirements, and the ability to work independently to define and carry-out specific work goals.
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication including a demonstrated ability to effectively explain complex scientific and modelling issues to colleagues and research/industrial partners.
  • Experience or interest in Project Management would be highly regarded.
