This role will report to Bede Johnston - Integrated Water Resources Modelling Manager and work within the Strategy & Performance Portfolio.
This is a Full Time, Permanent opportunity.
Salary Range starting from $150,332 base + super.
The Role:
- Ensure models are fit for purpose, leading the design, build, calibration, and maintenance of a broad range of water quality, land-use, hydrology, and/or hydraulic modelling systems.
- Provide technical advice informing risk management and strategy development for internal and external clients to assist WaterNSW meet regulatory, customer and business requirements.
- Continually investigate, promote, and drive opportunities for improvement, working collaboratively with wider industry, research partners, and internal stakeholders, being abreast of industry developments.
- Delivery of multi-disciplinary projects and ensure that best practice project management is applied throughout the life of the project to achieve agreed time, budget, and business case objectives.
- Provide technical advice, review technical reports, and project deliverables, to ensure hydraulic, hydrologic factors, climate change and/or water quality risk are well understood, and advice is of a high standard of quality and clearly communicated.
- Support the development of modelling solutions that are aligned with and facilitate the delivery of digital and business strategies, working closely with our internal stakeholders, industry and research partners and internal stakeholders to identify optimum technology solutions.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant field of science, engineering, or related disciplines
- Comprehensive understanding of catchment health and integrated water resources management principles.
- Well-developed knowledge of climate change impacts and technical application of climate and hydrologic modelling and associated implications for the water industry.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in the use of large data sets for modelling, analytics, and advice, with an understanding of collection, storage, and curation of hydrological, hydrometric and water quality data.
- Demonstrated extensive experience in the development and application of large-scale numerical models for catchment, streams or water supply systems including data analysis, modelling, and reporting.
- Demonstrated successful delivery of complex projects/program of works, including, preparing business cases, budget tracking and forecasting and identifying and managing project risks.
- Advanced written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including the ability to prepare complex technical reports and communicate at all levels.
- Current NSW Drivers Licence
