Internal Expression of Interest - Manager Corporate Strategy

We would like to provide our internal workforce the opportunity to express their interest in the role of Manager Corporate Strategy.

This role will report to Fiona Smith in our Strategy and Performance portfolio. 

This is a Full Time/ Permanent opportunity.

 

The Role:

  • Lead the development and adaptive management of the corporate strategy, including facilitation of business planning and development of new corporate commercial opportunities development. Embed ESG as part of our business planning and drive improved performance through enhanced business intelligence and analytics providing insight and diagnostics for the success of WaterNSW.

  • You will be responsible for leading the development and execution of WaterNSW 1, 3, and 10-year Corporate Strategies. This will involve driving collaboration and engagement across the organisation, as well as overseeing the measurement and tracking of corporate objectives to ensure successful strategy delivery. You will also manage the strategic planning process and facilitate the creation of the annual corporate business plan. 

  • Lead the design and commercial analysis of new business ventures, particularly those arising from water sector reform. Provide strategic advice to the executive and senior leadership teams, supporting the development and approval of business cases. Manage the initiation of approved ventures and ensure smooth transitions of programs to relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive ESG program that supports WaterNSW commitment to social and environmental responsibility. Establish measurable goals and track progress, ensuring transparency and providing external reports to stakeholders on performance.
  • Drive improved organisational decision-making by developing a business intelligence framework that supports strategic outcomes and enhances performance reporting. Work closely with stakeholders to minimize duplication and increase reporting efficiency while delivering greater insights. 
  • Lead the identification and analysis of new business opportunities and risks, with a focus on emerging trends and reforms in the water sector. Oversee the development and approval of business cases, and guide the execution of business opportunities from initiation through to implementation.
  • Lead the Corporate Transformation Office to implement frameworks and tools that improve business performance outcomes. Focus on customer value, business efficiency, and the tracking of commercial benefits across all initiatives.

 

What we are looking for:

  • Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; postgraduate qualification preferred.

    Knowledge:

    • Expertise in developing long-term, medium-term, and short-term corporate strategies.
    • Proficient in corporate planning, reporting, and the use of planning frameworks and tools.
    • Strong understanding of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and opportunities.
    • Knowledge of the water industry or utility/infrastructure sectors.

    Experience:

    • Proven experience in driving strategic thinking across long, medium, and short-term planning with senior organizational leaders.
    • Demonstrated success in delivering and implementing corporate strategies within large organisations, similar to WaterNSW, with tangible outcomes and measurable improvements.
    • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to transform complex information into actionable strategies, opportunities, and initiatives.
    • Proven track record in coaching teams and leading process improvements, with strong problem-solving abilities.
