Whatyou’lldo: 

  • Collect, process and manage Hydrometric surface water, groundwater and water quality monitoring data from a large and remote monitoring network, conducting functions such as: surface and groundwater monitoring, flow gauging, collection of water quality samples, instrument maintenance / calibrations and surveys. 

  • Collect water monitoring data as requested by internal or external stakeholders within assignedsites and in accordance with quality guidelines and relevant procedures. 

  • Help install, manage and maintain monitoring equipment and infrastructure to prescribed standards. 

  • Report on the performance of water monitoring sites from telemetered/non-telemetered datasets and seek instrumentation advice to identify/resolve issues.  

  • Contribute to continual improvement of the implementation and maintenance of quality assurance systems, audit programs and development of work instructions and procedures. 

 

What we are looking for:   

  • Undergraduate degree or Diploma of Water Industry Operations (hydrography), Science, Engineering, Asset Management, or equivalent experience in an appropriate field. 

  • Competent knowledge and use of various tools including battery operated tools and general hand tools used in the construction industry, and knowledge of the principles of surface water, groundwater and/or water quality monitoring. 

  • Awareness of and interest in natural resource management, particularly water  

  • A willingness to travel overnight to remote/isolated locations throughout NSW  

  • Computer literacy and ability to interpret data, work with specialist databases and monitor network performance. 

  • Current NSW Drivers Licence  

  • Desirable:Experience using Hydstra database, strong swimming ability, Boat License, row a boat/kayak, work at heights, heavy lifting, and ability in driving four-wheel drive vehicles.
