What you’ll do:
Collect, process and manage Hydrometric surface water, groundwater and water quality monitoring data from a large and remote monitoring network, conducting functions such as: surface and groundwater monitoring, flow gauging, collection of water quality samples, instrument maintenance / calibrations and surveys.
Collect water monitoring data as requested by internal or external stakeholders within assigned sites and in accordance with quality guidelines and relevant procedures.
Help install, manage and maintain monitoring equipment and infrastructure to prescribed standards.
Report on the performance of water monitoring sites from telemetered/non-telemetered datasets and seek instrumentation advice to identify/resolve issues.
Contribute to continual improvement of the implementation and maintenance of quality assurance systems, audit programs and development of work instructions and procedures.
What we are looking for:
Undergraduate degree or Diploma of Water Industry Operations (hydrography), Science, Engineering, Asset Management, or equivalent experience in an appropriate field.
Competent knowledge and use of various tools including battery operated tools and general hand tools used in the construction industry, and knowledge of the principles of surface water, groundwater and/or water quality monitoring.
Awareness of and interest in natural resource management, particularly water
A willingness to travel overnight to remote/isolated locations throughout NSW
Computer literacy and ability to interpret data, work with specialist databases and monitor network performance.
Current NSW Drivers Licence
Desirable: Experience using Hydstra database, strong swimming ability, Boat License, row a boat/kayak, work at heights, heavy lifting, and ability in driving four-wheel drive vehicles.
