What you’ll do: 

  • Lead the development and implementation of a broad range of catchment  programs 
  • Ensure activities are delivered to best practice standards including compliance with all environmental, work health and safety and corporate requirements.  
  • Lead and manage small field-based teams and contractors.  
  • Manage project specific budgets  for multiple programs  including the development  of project briefs, internal and external approvals, financial, contractual and project management documents.  
  • Participate in the implementation of regulations and compliance within the legislation available to WaterNSW for catchment and water quality protection.  
  • Liaise and negotiate with key land management stakeholders including other government agencies, regulators, utilities, mining companies, visitors, contractors, community, and land use groups for local and strategic issues at various levels. 
  • Participate in incident management, including out of hours rostering, in accordance with the Corporate Incident Management Framework. 

 

What we are looking for:  

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or extensive operational experience in natural resource management 
  • Experience leading field crews to deliver on ground works including grounds management, bushfire protection measures and mechanical vegetation control 
  • Sound knowledge of plant and machinery required for delivery of mechanical vegetation control  
  • Contractor management skills including onboarding, scoping of work, on- site supervision and performance monitoring  
  • Understanding of bushfire management requirements with prescribed burn planning and execution experience highly favourable 
  • Knowledge of WH&S Systems and Environmental Management including ability to develop, and ensure compliance with, safe work plans and environmental impact assessment requirements 
  • Ability and willingness to carry out required tasks of the role including remote field work, physically demanding activities in all weather conditions, for prolonged periods of time including frontline incident response. 
  • Current NSW Drivers License and a willingness to learn to drive a 4WD.
