What you’ll do:

  • Deliver and manage highly available, performant, and scalable database platforms across on-premises and cloud environments to support business-critical applications and services.
  • Ensure data is kept secure enterprise wide, and maintain strong security postures by enforcing access controls, encryption, data masking and monitoring, while ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Guarantee data recoverability and service continuity by implementing and validating backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies tailored to both cloud and on-premises systems.
  • Continuously monitor and tune database performance and resource usage, while proactively tracking and analysing costs to ensure the delivery of reliable, responsive, and cost-efficient database services.
  • Drive continual improvement initiatives to maximise value and minimise unnecessary expenditure, including adoption of new database technologies and collaborating with developers to optimise code.
  • Streamline database provisioning, security, configuration, and maintenance by applying repeatable, automated processes using infrastructure-as-code and scripting tools.
  • Oversee the management and optimisation of cloud-based data management and transformation services (such as Azure Data Factory, Data Explorer, managed PostgreSQL, and related platforms) to support evolving business needs.


What we are looking for: 
 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience
  • Relational database, data modelling, and database management
  • Azure cloud technologies and Microsoft SQL Server
  • Extensive expertise in database design, installation, configuration, administration and migration at a senior level
  • Experience with modern data pipelines, data streaming, and real-time analytics tools
  • Experience designing, developing, supporting, and managing data warehousing technologies
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence
