to join our Land & Water Operations team.

What you’ll do: 

  • Problem-Solving: Address complex catchment health and water quality problems by applying innovative data analytics and modelling tools.
  • Analytics & Integration: Provide quality-assured data, modelling tools, and automated systems, contributing to evolving catchment management and water quality assessment needs. Develop, test, integrate, and deploy systems for database interactions and data inputs.
  • Model Development: Design, develop and implement contemporary hydroinformatics components, tools and products to enhance water science capability.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Work collaboratively with external Research Partners, internal Information Technology partners and subject matter experts, to transition state-of-the-art statistical models into easily to interpretable and implementable outputs.
  • Technical Advice: Provide expert advice and oversight o data management, experimental design, and statistical robustness to ensure quality control of internal projects and verification of external research findings. Evaluate the reliability of external contributions impacting catchment health and water quality, while ensuring alignment with WaterNSW policies, principles, and practices.

 

What we are looking for:  

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in a STEM field (e.g. Science, Hydroinformatics, Engineering, Maths field), or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in designing, developing, optimising and operationalising modelling and forecasting systems and tools, preferably for water resources management.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in analysing and visualising multi-dimensional large datasets, preferably for scientific purposes.
  • Extensive knowledge of contemporary software development, maintenance and management practices in scientific modelling environment and programming skills using agile languages (including R and Python)
  • Extensive knowledge of scientifically robust statistics in an environmental/water resources and understanding of source water quality management principles management context.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence.
