Location: Nepean Dam or Warragamba Dam
 
Salary: $121,185 base + 12% super
 
Tenure: Full-Time, Permanent
 

What we are looking for:

  • A strong desire to contribute your skills and expertise to our business 
  • Someone who is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent / identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and is accepted as such by the community in which they were born, has lived or currently lives 
  • A commitment to promoting and preserving Aboriginal culture and value 
  • Relevant experience representing businesses engagement with First Nations People with well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to share, deliver and promote awareness with WaterNSW of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage. 
  • Demonstrated cultural heritage experience associated with the delivery of infrastructure projects and in-depth knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage
  • Good understanding of government legislation and policies in relation to cultural heritage and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement.
  • Experience working with traditional owners and representatives, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and managing cross cultural issues to help deliver projects.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence.

What you will work on: 

  • Provide cultural heritage advice to multiple project delivery teams across the project planning lifecycle.
  • Liaise with registered Aboriginal Parties on cultural heritage, including field assessment of cultural heritage risks to support the delivery of projects.
  • Promote, foster, and maintain effective relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, including Traditional Owner groups and their representatives.
  • Provide information and advice to stakeholders on relevant legislation, WaterNSW policy, procedures, and requirements for cultural heritage management. 
  • Advise on the management of unexpected finds and cultural heritage related incidents in line with WaterNSW policies and/or legislative requirements. 

 

WaterNSW operates the state’s dams, capturing and storing water, and then supplying it ready for distribution – for the environment, agriculture, industry and the community. With 41 major dams and hundreds of waterways across the state, we play a vital role at the source of the state’s water, delivering two thirds of all water used in NSW
